Holiday House
Merimbula, NSW
The Merimbula house is inspired by its coastal setting, combining weathered natural materials with crisp contemporary finishes to create a simple laid-back beach house.
Conceived as two volumes, at ground level, bedrooms, bathrooms, circulation and a garage are wrapped in a continuous skin of weathered driftwood, forming solid walling, as well as shutters to the ocean facing bedrooms.
Above this, a lightweight pavilion sits upon a landscaped platform at the same level as the rear of the site, thus the living areas are elevated to catch the view, as well as being surrounded by the garden.
